Travelling to Chicago meant far more gales in the Windy City than we’d been used to of late! Despite the wind, we saw some great sights in Chicago. Millennium Park, The Cloud Gate (better known as the Bean) and Navy Pier were all highlights.

We ended up staying in a hotel that was far fancier than we expected thanks to a deal online. They even left us some bubbles in our room to celebrate our recent wedding! Just check out the view from our window – including onto the roof of the nearby prison…

On day two we went on a free walking tour that taught us all about the gangster history in the Lincoln Park area with Free Tours By Foot. We also took our own Blues Brothers tour of some of the key sights from the film using the Chicago Like A Local blog and visited the free city zoo. Read our blog on other free things to do in Chicago here.

And finally, we couldn’t possibly visit Chicago without trying their deep dish pizza. Made traditionally, it has the cheese on the bottom and tomatoes on the top and it was so delicious, we had it two nights in a row. Well, we wanted to make the most of our time in the city, didn’t we…!
